Blood Type: AB
Likes: the color purple, poetry, reading, lamps/collecting lamps, world history class
Favorite Food: Nihon {Japanese} soba
Least Favorite Food: Milk (originally), but I headcanon Hotaru grows more tolerance to it upon rebirth. Hotaru may still go for other drinks as a first option though, but Hotaru also really enjoys ice cream upon rebirth too, especially getting it with Chibiusa.
Dislikes: Marathons, physical education class (when still in school), activities that require excessive physical energy in general, though Hotaru's health is decently better upon rebirth as well. It's more like Hotaru generally doesn't care to be tired out where it can be avoided/acts in self-preservation.
About:
[ Spoiler warning for Sailor Moon S / Infinity Arc of Manga & Sailor Moon Crystal+Eternal #2 follows!! ]
As Saturn, Hotaru has referred to self both as the Soldier of Silence [沈黙の戦士] as well as the Soldier of Ruin {/Death} and {Re}birth [破滅と誕生の戦士], being an only Senshi with two of such titles. Saturn's weapon is a large scythe with a long handle known as the Silence Glaive, a weapon of awe-inspiring, worlds-ending destructive power, but if it is kept, it will be NERF'd down for Seasons so as to not affect the game balance.
As it is, Saturn will rarely use the worlds-ending power unless Saturn seriously feels it is necessary to maintain the balance of the worlds, as doing so will almost definitely result in Saturn's own death once again.

At the end of the manga, the timeline would eventually progress to that of the future known as "Crystal Tokyo". This Hotaru is from a canon point sometime after the end of the manga, but also after Usagi's coronation as Neo Queen Serenity happens. In that time, Hotaru has been able to return to Hotaru's standard growth pattern that Hotaru would have reached while still alive during the Infinity Arc. Hotaru lives closely amongst the Senshi or Guardians gathered at the palace, this time remaining closer to Usagi's family than as distant as Saturn remained in the past. Hotaru is especially close with Chibiusa upon Chibiusa's rebirth, and the two get to grow up with each other as friends similar to what happened at the start of the manga's Stars arc, except this time Hotaru is older than Chibiusa, as they originally were in Infinity arc. Hotaru has been designated as the Princess of Saturn, and will more often be wearing the royal purple dress that Princess Saturn wears on daily business than not if at something more formal, as well as upon arrival.

Hotaru is from the manga version, where Hotaru later is reborn and grows up to regard Haruka Tenou {Sailor Uranus} as "Haruka-papa", Michiru Kaiou {Sailor Neptune} as "Michiru-mama", and Setsuna Meiou {Sailor Pluto} also as "Setsuna-mama". Hotaru's original family consisted of Souichi Tomoe and Keiko Tomoe; both are currently deceased as of Hotaru's current canon point. Keiko passed before the events of the Sailor Moon main storyline began, passing away in a fire that occurred at Souichi's laboratory. For a long time, Hotaru was not aware of the true meaning behind Keiko's death, but would learn more, including from Souichi, as time went on. At the canon point being taken from, Hotaru has come to terms with Hotaru's biological parents' deaths, and has had a lot of self-compassion for Hotaru's own self and actions since regaining powers as Saturn.
Hotaru is originally born as an only child of Souichi & Keiko Tomoe; Hotaru is again reborn as an only child after Saturn sacrifices self, but this time Hotaru is adopted by Setsuna, Haruka, and Michiru. I headcanon that Hotaru particularly acknowledges Hotaru's biological parents' passing during the Japanese holidays known as Ohigan or Higan as well as Obon.

Hotaru Tomoe is the civilian identity of Sailor Saturn, though like most of the other Senshi, she didn't learn this until a certain point of her life. That happened to be at the time she was taken over by Mistress 9, and the world was in danger of destruction by Mistress 9.
Before that time, Hotaru lived happily with her parents, until her mother died in a laboratory accident; a serious fire which also left the eight year old Hotaru critically injured at the time. It was considered a miracle that Hotaru awakened from the resulting coma at all. Since then, she became more withdrawn and shy, opting to keep to herself and not interact much with others, even those of her age. Especially as she grew older, and discovered more about the current state of her body (including her healing ability and her cyborg state.)
Hotaru attended Mugen Academy (Infinity Academy), a top ranking private school, implying she's intelligent and talented, on the level of a genius. Unfortunately for Hotaru, fellow students at Mugen Academy disliked her as a result of her being so withdrawn and quiet, considering her strange. They also generally found her appearance strange; both clothes wise, because of her habits when it came to what she wore to cover her injuries, and considering her expression always "so vacant". They were also generally aware of her weak body. In turn, Hotaru appeared to dislike them and be upset by their comments. She looked at two particular students with "hatred", glaring, crushing a pencil holder she dropped right in front of them.
But eventually, Hotaru would meet Chibiusa Tsukino, otherwise known as Small Lady Serenity or Sailor Chibi Moon. When they first spoke, Hotaru was looking downwards as she had a coughing fit, something that always happened to her, and insisted she'd be fine, refusing Chibiusa's concern. She then stated how the Tomoe Laboratories were off-limits and Chibiusa shouldn't be there, showing she tends to follow rules.
While Hotaru did not know of Chibiusa's identity as Chibi Moon at first, Chibiusa then had to transform in front of Hotaru in order to help Sailor Moon defeat an enemy attacking her and Hotaru. Hotaru was startled by Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon's appearances, at first. However, she came to recognize Chibiusa as someone who was friendly and kind, and Usagi, as well, though she bonded much more with Chibiusa.
Even right after the fight where she first saw Chibiusa transform, she healed Chibiusa's minor injury, revealing her healing power to Chibiusa (and Usagi, as well, who also witnessed it.) This is despite that Chibiusa might have found her healing power strange or creepy, and that she never revealed it to anyone before them. Hotaru also stated she was aware it was creepy, but she's had it since she was a small child (implying she had grown used to it, and possibly wasn't afraid to use it). During the same scene, she showed knowledge of treating injuries, wrapping Chibiusa's with Hotaru's handkerchief and stating Chibiusa should take care of her injury properly. Her giving Chibiusa the handkerchief also showed Hotaru's kindness. She also told them they should hurry and leave, because they'd be in a lot of trouble if the guards found them -- showing she wouldn't turn them in to the guards, even if she was expected to. When Chibiusa asked her name, Hotaru smiled for the first time since encountering them, and offered it.
After that encounter, Hotaru returned to her home, and there it was revealed "Kaori", an older woman that stayed there and who was a "great help" to her father and Hotaru since her mother died, was someone Hotaru held great dislike and mistrust towards. Her father considered her refusing "Kaori"'s help, insisting she could move by herself, as being "selfish" towards "Kaori", and berated Hotaru for her "selfishness". Hotaru, in turn, considered "Kaori" as someone her father was merely infatuated with; someone who should "learn her place" and "shouldn't be allowed to come into our home". Her feelings towards "Kaori" show that Hotaru is able to hold resentment; and grudges -- that she is able to feel upset towards people she doesn't trust, that her family and home are important to her.
Hotaru would be in much pain following that encounter, and her father gave her an "amulet" of "her mother". Hotaru recognized that her father's hands had "grown so cold", and was aware her body felt "stranger than usual". She wondered how long her body would come to last, showing an awareness of her own possible death.
Chibiusa, despite leaving the academy before, would soon return to the area she met Hotaru, intending to give Hotaru a replacement handkerchief. Hotaru was stunned to learn Chibiusa came all that way "for that"; blushing and uncertain. She seemed like she was confused as to why Chibiusa would even bother to do that, before smiling. Hotaru then invited Chibiusa to her room. That scene showed if someone showed her kindness, Hotaru would likely return it by trusting them; probably because she isn't used to such kindness and appreciates it as a result.
Hotaru's room is filled with lamps; dark, and Hotaru claims it's because she "likes dark places". Chibiusa finds it to make the room look "romantic". Hotaru seems to enjoy collecting the lamps in general, despite her preference of "dark places", because she has more lamps than she really needs to light the room when it's otherwise dark.
Chibiusa learns some of her secrets -- such as that Hotaru wears black to cover her serious injuries from her accident, and Hotaru in turn realized it was all right to become friends with Chibiusa, and that Chibiusa seemed to want to become friends with her. After promising she won't reveal Chibi Moon's identity, Hotaru also reveals she is suspicious of the Daimon monsters, believing they came from her father's laboratory as experiments. Hotaru generally seems to have some awareness towards things that may be hidden from her.
When Chibiusa and Usagi visit another time, unable to find the intercom of the building, "Kaori" catches them, treating them with suspicion. Hotaru quickly appears with narrowed eyes, insisting harshly that they are her guests; even if she was unaware they were coming. Chibiusa would soon give her an "amulet" she, Usagi, and Mamoru made (it was a class project that she'd later find she had to give as a gift to someone important). Hotaru thanked her, but insisted that if Chibiusa made it "to give away to an important person", then Chibiusa "shouldn't be giving it to [her], [Chibiusa] should keep it for [herself]".
After having another fit, Hotaru showed awareness of her memory being messed up at times after she fainted. During an episode where Mistress 90 called out to her, after Chibiusa gave her the amulet, Hotaru asked about her Silver Crystal, wondering about its strange power that Chibiusa used to help her feel better. Chibiusa, trusting her, told her its name.
But soon after, Chibiusa discovered the secret of Hotaru's cyborg body, witnessing it when Hotaru was half clothed. Before Chibiusa, Hotaru "didn't want anyone to know the secret about [her] body, a body which no blood flows through". She expected to die all alone after discovering the state of her body after the accident.
While Hotaru disliked her cyborg state, she doesn't seem to hold much resentment towards her father, still holding kindness towards him. Despite being aware of his gruesome research, she believed him to be a good person, because he saved her during the accident. But then, she also didn't know of Professor Tomoe's continued, intentional experiments with the Daimons, or their true purpose.
After Chibiusa ran off after discovering the secret of Hotaru's body, Hotaru had another spasm, and the Outer Senshi, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Pluto appeared before her, but in their civilian forms as Haruka Tenou, Michiru Kaiou, and Setsuna Meiou. Hotaru, however, was unaware of who they were both as Senshi and as civilians. She wondered why they looked at her with "such pity" in their eyes, and threw out the window the "amulet" her father had previously given her in an upset rage. Hotaru does not want to be pitied, even if she was truly in quite a pitiable situation, and aware of it.
Hotaru would soon become possessed by "Mistress 9", who stole Chibiusa's Silver Crystal. Mistress 9 was completely unlike Hotaru, even in her darker emotional states. Mistress 9 was, in a sense, completely evil, doing things for her own gain as well as Pharaoh 90's, such as putting the other Senshi in danger.
Hotaru, however, was still within the back of Mistress 9's mind, and was able to eventually help stop her after discovering she was Sailor Saturn. Sailor Saturn is known as the Soldier of Silence, Destruction, and Death and Birth. Once transforming, she becomes determined, focused, and nearly unstoppable, without regrets, and even sacrifices her own life to save everyone else. She can destroy worlds by bringing down her Silence Glaive, without a spoken word, making her probably the most powerful senshi aside from Sailor Moon herself. She was actually the one who destroyed the Moon Kingdom of the Silver Millennium after being awakened by Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
While Saturn may have seemed at first to bring nothing but destruction, it was proven after her sacrifice that she did care about Chibiusa, even as Saturn. She returned in a spirit form to give back Chibiusa's Silver Crystal, returning her to life.
After the S arc, and after Hotaru is reborn from an infant stage to a young child, the younger Hotaru during the SuperS and Stars arc also lives with the other Outer Senshi in a family unit, with Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna as her parental figures, and with herself as a child.
Hotaru post-rebirth (and even after remembering she is Sailor Saturn) is much more carefree, innocent, and even a bit cheeky towards her friends. For example, when Usagi implies Chibiusa and Hotaru are "sure are close, holding hands at this ungodly hour [of the morning]", as the trio walk to the younger girls' school with Chibiusa and Hotaru holding hands and gossiping happily about their friends from class the whole way -- Hotaru and Chibiusa turn to stare at Usagi without a word, before Hotaru asks with a serious but wide eyed look: "well, don't you hold hands with Mamoru?". This response causes Usagi to make a face and barge between them (since hand holding's not something she can do often with Mamoru), breaking their hand holding apart out of her annoyance, while Chibiusa and Hotaru react with general dismay at Usagi's antics. (It should be noted that hand holding is seen as generally romantic in Japan, and Usagi is in a relationship with Mamoru at that point, so Hotaru implies Usagi and Mamoru should hold hands because they're in a relationship.) Later that same school day, Hotaru and Chibiusa visit Setsuna at the nurse's office of the elementary school, where Setsuna works as a nurse, calling her "Nurse Setsuna". Hotaru is beaming and sticking out her tongue a little as they ask if they can go home with Setsuna that night. Meanwhile, Chibiusa and Hotaru are suddenly crowded around by other students acting awed and jealous, and one claims it's "no wonder" because "Setsuna is Hotaru's mama". When Chibiusa wanted to return to the future, Hotaru seemed discontent and said "that's boring". She also played happily with Chibi Chibi later on in the Stars arc.
However, her mindset is not so carefree post-rebirth that she can't still be very much serious and mature, especially as Sailor Saturn and during serious circumstances in general. When Usagi went to find Pluto and Saturn on one of their planets, she discovered their bodies had been killed by Sailor Galaxia, the antagonist of Stars. A playback video showed Saturn and Pluto charging, determinedly, just as Galaxia raised a hand to attack.
But because of Hotaru's happier lifestyle in general, by the end of the series, Hotaru leads a much happier life. Hotaru is able to be friends with Chibiusa and the outer Senshi without regrets, and to be Hotaru's own self - not nearly as withdrawn and completely closed-off as Hotaru used to be, even if Hotaru may still prefer having some personal space to self at times than less so.
Other:
Her height is undetermined and fluctuates depending on the point of the manga one refers to. From her canon point (Usagi's wedding), she is shown to be slightly smaller and shorter than she was in the S arc and as Saturn in general, even though she is still in the 6th grade in both arcs. However, in the S arc she had the appearance of a 12 year old.
As a frequent habit, during the Infinity she often hung her head lowered, though this seems to lessen once Hotaru has more self compassion after being reborn. Another habit shown before Hotaru was reborn was that Hotaru reads while in the bath (implying Hotaru might take long ones). Later on, while being raised by Setsuna, Haruka and Michiru, Hotaru is equally an avid reader, quoting advanced-level poetry by the Jewish poet and scientist Albert Einstein, and seemingly again after a long rest (likely during a bath).
Hotaru's name means "firefly rising from earth", relating to Hotaru with Japanese mythology regarding fireflies and their relation with yokai of the dead, and Hotaru's personality and backstory in general: Hotaru being reborn as Saturn and later as Hotaru, and then Saturn again; Hotaru carrying out missions at the cost of Hotaru's own life shows Hotaru constantly "rising from earth" in a symbolic sense.
Hotaru's dream or future career goal is to be a nurse. This is possibly related to Hotaru's initial inherent healing ability and Hotaru's willingness to use it to help others, as well as following in the footsteps of Hotaru's mother, who worked alongside Souichi at the Tomoe's laboratory. Hotaru has a very caring personality, once one can get through the maze and mystery surrounding Hotaru's personality, emotions, and backstory. It is undeniable that Hotaru would eventually reach this goal to become a nurse if the universe allows it. If Hotaru did become a nurse, Hotaru would likely also study initially under Setsuna, who briefly works as a doctor or school nurse during the Stars arc alongside various other careers (such as being a scientist and programmer).
Hotaru is also skilled at playing the violin; this is a natural skill gained over time due to Hotaru's frequent practice, but perhaps impacted on a magical level thanks to the strength of Hotaru's inherent abilities. At one time when Hotaru played, the form of Pegasus, or Helios, appeared to Michiru, showing a devastated Chibiusa kneeling before Helios, trying to reach the other. Michiru was shocked by this vision, while Hotaru was completely seemingly unsurprised, and regards Michiru deadly seriously after, telling Michiru, Haruka, and Setsuna what their next steps as a group would have to be. When not impacted by magical qualities, Hotaru's skills are simply natural learnt, and Hotaru trains initially under Michiru upon rebirth, taking frequent violin lessons. Hotaru knows a variety of classical tracks but can also play musical covers to favorite songs, sometimes only a few times after learning them, unless the song is particularly advanced and/or in a classical style, requiring another try or two. Hotaru seemed to eventually enjoy performing in front of others, but while never breaking concentration; or at least didn't appear to mind that Michiru's students would see Hotaru play too.

Backtagging: Yes, I am always available for backtagging as long as wanted, unless we mutually agree to handwave a thread
Threadjacking: Yes, but if something extremely significant that can affect/hurt Hotaru is to happen, maybe better to poke me and ask first. Any pain may leave Hotaru quite winded in an action thread if Hotaru doesn't expect it to happen. Hotaru can bounce back quickly though when agitated enough.
Fourthwalling: Yes, on request/ask me; contacting by Dreamwidth messages is ok too
Mind Reading: Yes, on request/ask me; contacting by Dreamwidth messages is ok too
Touching: Yes, but Hotaru may instinctively recoil from/fight most touches if Hotaru's not familiar with you at first, unless you prove yourself to be genuinely friendly and/or respectful of Hotaru. In canon, Hotaru reads as a bit touch-repulsed in my mind too; so I will also be playing with this in mind, but feel free to chip away at Hotaru's barriers!
Shipping/Kissing: Please contact me privately to ask first, especially regarding kissing or surprise kisses. In Hotaru's canon point brought from, Hotaru has not yet experienced a very serious relationship; if anything, has only considered dating so far. It doesn't mean Hotaru is completely closed to the idea if Hotaru can grow very close with your character, however.
Fighting/Injury: Please contact me privately to ask/plot first! Hotaru is definitely a fighter, however, and will automatically respond if instigated into a fight, usually in self-defense first before all-out attack.
Character Death: Please contact me privately to ask/plot before assuming I'd be ok with in-game death. If we can plot something out, and everyone's on the same page, I'm definitely much more flexible with this. Hotaru, however, will absolutely hate it and be very worried about the state of Self after the fact, so be prepared for that kind of reacting.
